Walking Trips
Paleokastritsa
has all the advantages and disadvantages of a popular tourist centre.
On
the foot of the Arakli-mountains, on the edge of terraces-shaped olive groves
lie, from the rocky coast, six inviting turquoise-blue booking.
The
scenery is overpowering.
The
monastery stands on a wooded, to all sides precipitously sloping land tongue.
Wear please suitable clothes, if you want to visit it! Although this cloister
was founded in 1228, the brilliant white buildings are from the 18th and 19 th
century - with lovely monastery gardens.

Another
excursion is to Lakones, which is situated outstretched on the ledge of a
mountain. A precipitous ride around numerous hairpin bends leads you there.
Olive trees shade the street like gigantic screens, with dark cypresses.
Carefully invested stonewalls form terraces in the slopes.
Below
from the cliff ledge, on which the place stands, you get a great view- You can
see very far away, until Liapades and the coastal mountains. At Bella Vista,
about 1 kilometre behind the place, there is a balcony-shaped vantage point; to
take a photo of the view.
After
Lakones the road takes you on the left to Krini. From the castle Angelokastro
has been left a little, but the 325 m deep abyss down in the sea is impressive !
The Byzantine fortress was builded by Michael Angelo I in the 12 Th century. You
see the town of Corfu rather good, and, therefore, it was in ideal place to warn
about menacing warships.
